Rare piece!!!
I believe that the central part comes from an Edwardian era lavalier necklace. It is 14kt rose gold, with an approximately 1/4 carat OE or mine cut VERY SPARKLY cognac diamond embraced by romantic claw prongs in a buttercup setting.
The spiral drop and the chain are more modern additions to this fine piece.
In the 1600s, the lavalier got its name from Louise de La Vallière , a mistress of Louis XIV who wore them often. The lavalier was popular from 1900 to 1930, and has been revived over the decades.Get part of an original now!
So very elegant, surrounded by delicate filigree and tiny pearls which are strung by a tiny wire or thread.
16" gold chain, 1" spiral drop to the pendant, and the pendant itself is 1" long (1/2 " each of its 4 sides.)
Some fine repairs have been made to this over 100 year-old piece over the years.
Please see all photos as they are integral to the description.
