Vintage Japanese handcarved wooden mold or kashigata.
This is a complete mold, with both top and bottom pieces which are connected by tiny pegs. See photos for reference.
These molds, or kashigata, are used to make Japanese sweets or wagashi and are often made for a specific shop.
This mold features a pair of carved plum blossoms.
There is writing on the edges of both sides, possibly the name of the owner or shop it was made for or the name of the design.
In very good condition. and a beautiful example of Japanese craftsmanship.
Purchased by me when I lived in Japan.
Comes from a smoke free pet free home.
