Fushigi Yugi begins when the main character Miaka & her best friend Yui (students) are beamed to a distant world that resembles ancient china. Yui is sent back to the real world & while Miaka stays, Yui follows her by reading the book that got them there in the first place.
Miaka is rescued repeatedly by Tamahome & when the two are discovered by the emperor, Miaka is made Priestess of Suzaku, a legend from another world that will bring aid from the god Suzaku. In order to obtain this power, she must find the 7 Celestial Warriors whose job it is to protect her. Tamahome is one, as is emperor Hotohori & one of his concubines Nuriko. What follows is an epic of love triangles, fighting, tragedies, & intrigue. Our Inv# VHS 005.
