Purchased at Ramses Exhibit at Mint Museum, Charlotte NC, Jan. 29, 1988, this amazingly detailed painting shows a scene from the tomb of Queen Nefretari, wife of Ramses II. In this painting, Isis (goddess of motherhood) appears sitting on her throne, and kneeling before her is Ma'at (goddess of truth and justice) who is spreading her wings to protect the cartouche containing the name of Queen Nefretari. It seems that Maat and Isis are honoring or blessing Nefretari with their gifts of protection and motherhood.

The painting is gold leaf and watercolor done on papyrus by professors at the University of Cairo in Egypt. Papyrus is very durable and creates a magnificient textured unique piece of art. Professionally framed and matted, but one of the round disks on back of frame is missing. Measures 12.25 x 16.25 inches framed.
