Vintage 1960's Male Handmade Malay Costume Doll Art Doll Malaysian Culture Doll Wooden Stand Silk Costume 10 1/2"
This doll has been in my collection since the 1960's.
The doll is made of wire and cloth and has beautiful hand-painted facial features on a felt head. The male’s attire is the Baju Melayu, a tunic over pants with a sarong around the hips. The fabric of the sarong is fabulous silk in an intricate pattern. The top portion of his tunic has a 3 tiny yellow button closure.
He wears a songkok or peci or kopiah on his head. It is in the shape of a truncated cone and is made of black velvet.
His face is quite handsome, hand painted.
2 1/4" Square wooden stand.
This doll is just perfect. The amount of detail and unique construction is just amazing.
One of a kind in near excellent condition.
