This painting of Grand Teton doesn’t fail to meet up to the name of the mountain, as it’s massive, at 30x40” (with frame, 36.5 x 46.5”)
Peter Tensley Jr. (1915-unknown) was a Hong Kong-born American artist who got his start in Los Angeles, selling watercolors. Joining the army, he suffered a hand injury, leading to his transition to oils. He received a contract from a gallery in San Francisco, and was well-received. He moved to Colorado, where he made his home with his family.
His art was featured in the collections of Senators Ted Kennedy and Barry Goldwater, Jerry Lewis, and Paul Newman.
There are a few dings to the gilt frame as shown, but otherwise this painting is in remarkable condition.
