The Janus Dragon, an industrial furnace, offers versatile firing for both pottery and glass, surprisingly affordable given its robust features. Its 16,800 watts heat a spacious 24” wide, 24” deep, 27” high interior to cone 10 with ample power to spare. Recessed grooves accommodate industrial-gauge wall and roof elements, with optional door elements available. A switch allows selection between glass and pottery modes. In glass mode, heat comes from top elements and the middle sidewall element, enabling fusion and sagging of large glass projects. In pottery mode, heat comes from only the sidewall elements, allowing firing to cone 10 or multiple shelves of smaller glass pieces. Digital firing, monitored by a reliable solid-state Sentry controller, ensures convenience and efficiency. The sealed touch pad resists dust and is easy to clean. The controller offers powerful, user-friendly features. Roof elements are mounted in a firebrick 'ball' groove, eliminating element pins and dissipating heat efficiently. The 4” thick walls, top, and door, made of 3” firebrick backed by 1” of ceramic fiber block insulation, save energy and cool slowly for optimal glaze development. The ventilated switch box, hinged at the bottom, opens wide for easy maintenance. Long-lasting mercury relays power the elements, protected by a bank of built-in NEC/UL compliant high-amperage fuses. The wide-opening door, supported by a heavy-duty steel rod with sealed bearings, ensures easy access. The 24” tall stand, available with casters, is priced separately and can be ordered pre-installed or separately.
