Royal Doulton "Rip Van Winkle" Vintage Collectible Signed Large Character Jug

Royal Doulton proudly presents this "Rip Van Winkle" vintage character jug that pays tribute to one of the most famous characters of 18th century. It from the Sleepy Hollow story. It was first introduced in 1955 and retired in 1995. Item number is D6438. This piece is by Geoff Blower. This piece commemorates history with a gloriously sculpted and vividly colored large character jug of "Rip Van Winkle who slept his life away. The true story was based on a person named Peter Klaus. The story claims that Rip Van Winkle was walking around the Catskills in New York. He drank a potion that put him in a deep sleep for 20 years. The jug has Rip Van Winkle's face. He has a floppy black hat. He has long grey hair and a long grey beard. The coat is burgundy. The jug has a handle that has a black bird and the landlord on the middle of it. It's made in Bone China. There is a tiny hole on the top of the handle but it's hardly noticeable. Otherwise, there are no other defects. The jug is 6.5".
