Acupuncturist are faced with innumerable mental confusion regarding which points to choose to bring desire result in the patients and that too for long term. Though you could mentally argue with yourself as there are several points that make a good combination. There are two ways you can select points. One way is through anaqysis and other way intuition. Analytical mind is controlled by left brain and intuitive mind is controlled by right brain. So, when you use both sides of your brain, then it is called dual process theory, as scientists calls it, and the Author of the Book “Thinking Fast and Slow”. Daniel Kahneman” the Noble prize winning psychologist also think so, and we should thank him. The Greek Philospher ‘Aristotle’ Said it Brilliantly’ that ‘Wisdom is intuitive reason combined with scientific knowledge’. Making wise choices should always be the goal in selecting Acupuncture points and treating patients. When you work to strengthen and combine both halves of the brain and both process of though, you can make better point combinational more quickly. The greatest importance in professional acupuncture training is on the development of the Analytical mind. Students spend a long time in memorizing information and in learning the principles and theory of chinese medicine. The students should learn and understand the theory, otherwise they cannot make a difference between the syndromes, or how to select effective point combinations for themselves. However, if a practioner gives importance to the analytical faculty of mind, then he can become lost in theoretical world, that will lead to mental confusion and stress. As you kno , that analytical mind has a tendency towards fixity and this can seroiusly diminish ability of practitioner in empathize with the patient also to be empathetic towards there fillings and needs of practitioner is empathize with the patient and also to be empathetic towards their feelings and needs . The practitioner may became rigid mentally and he will start bending the facts to fit in the theory rather than the truth of theory made to fit in the facts. Most diseases are related to emotional imbalances. Human emotions are fleeting and are like water and there is no comprehensive and flexible theory that can describe them convincingly. The intuitive brain or right hemisphere has the power to feel and perceive the emotions of the patients with sympathy and sensibly and it is very valuable to the practioner. Intvition work like this, when you are taking a case of the patient and you might get a clear perception or hunch of emotional state of the patient and their negative thinking and life patterns. In the same way, when you are giving treatment to the patient by selecting certain number of points, which then proves to be beneficial . This is intuition. You have to blend both intuition and analysis. Intuition cannot replace Analysis, but are complementary to each other, and both must be proved by experience. Intuition is the territory which needs long and careful vigilance, and 1 hope that in the future, intuition should be integrated into acupuncture courses. Intuition, Analysis and experience can be a powerful tool for the practioners. A good Acupuncturist is a blend of Analysis intuitipn ana experience. Analysis is helpful in organizing the details of the case history in the practitioner mind, and intuition can represent an overall image from these small details and put in the practice. Choosing points is the combination of both intuition and analysis, but it can only be useful when the combination is tried out and found to be effective. I Hope this book will give you immense support in choosing points combination in both intuitive and analytical way. I have completed my 21 years of practice in 2023, and I have added my experience and knowledge in this book. Read more
