A lovely Double Terminated Herkimer Diamond Floater from the Turtle Clan Mine in Fonda, NY. This is a unique shape for a Herkimer Diamond. It was very difficult to capture in photos just how cool this specimen is. It is growing at an angle, somewhat flattened and elongated on the broader faces of the gem. This was likely caused by growth interference. I haven't seen any other specimens that displays this unique anatomy. A five hundred million year old work of natural art.
