In the comic miniseries Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, the X-Men have Deadpool committed to the Ravencroft Asylum, where the villain Psycho-Man attempts to brainwash him into becoming a minion. This procedure goes wrong, eliminating the multiple "funny" voices in Deadpool's head and leaving only a single, nihilistic voice that convinces him that the entire Marvel Universe is a disturbing, fictional construct that must be destroyed to achieve "true" freedom.
Driven by this new motivation, Deadpool embarks on a bloody rampage, systematically assassinating virtually every hero and villain in the universe:
