VINTAGE MADE IN PORTUGAL CERAMIC RABBIT LIDDED BOWL

This is a vintage ceramic rabbit head lidded bowl, often referred to as a tureen or covered casserole dish. These items are typically made of majolica or faience pottery and were often used for serving pâté or terrine or could just be a trinket box or candy dish. This dish was produced in Portugal by companies like Secla (Sociedade de Exportação e Cerâmica, Lda) or Faiencerie Subtil. It is marked on the bottom. It features a realistic gray or blue rabbit head as the lid, contrasting with a brown, often black-trimmed, oval base. These dishes date back to the mid-20th century, with many produced in the 1960s, 1970s, or early 1980s. It is from my collection of bunny items and I’ve had it since the 70s. It is in excellent vintage condition. I only used it as decor and it is perfect.
