Vintage Aztec Mexican Tlaloc Huehueteotl Sculpture Statue God of Fire Folk Art Pottery

Vintage replica pre-Columbian sculpture/statue depicting the Aztec and Teotihuacan god of fire, Huehueteotl.

Huehueteotl, whose name means "Old God" in Nahuatl, is one of the oldest deities in Mesoamerican culture.
He is typically depicted as an elderly, wrinkled man, often seated and carrying a brazier or stove on his head, which symbolizes a volcano.

The original artifacts, made from dark, heavy pottery or stone, often served as censers, with holes where offerings, such as copal resin, would have been burned.

This primitive clay figure is shown with his hands resting on his knees and large, round ear ornaments.

Dimensions: Approximately 9" H x 8" W.

In good vintage condition with primitive, handmade imperfections and light wear (such as dings, scratches, chips, etc.) as appropriate for age/use. There is also a slightly raised horizontal ridge on the back. See
pictures for more details.
