Up for sale is one of the most charming and sought-after Department 56 Christmas pieces ever made: the 2001 Santa with Fruit Basket Pedestal Candle Holder designed by Peggy Toole.
This jolly hand-painted ceramic Santa is bent forward carrying an enormous woven basket overflowing with beautifully glazed fruit grapes, apples, pears, cherries, plums, oranges, and more all in vibrant holiday colors. The basket itself forms the 6-inch diameter candle platform (perfect for a pillar candle) and the entire piece stands approx. 9 inches tall. A true statement piece that always gets compliments!
Condition:
Very good displayed condition with only minor flaws typical of these fragile pieces:
Two tiny paint chips on the outer rim of the fruit (see close-up photos easily touched up if desired)
One very small fleck on the inside fur trim of Santas coat (barely noticeable and only seen when looking for it)
No cracks, repairs, or structural damage still displays beautifully.
