The lighter in the image is a vintage Ibelo Monopol automatic pocket lighter. This model was a popular European petrol (wick) lighter produced in Germany, starting from the 1930s and continuing with variations into the 1970s. It features a "fully automatic" mechanism where pressing a thumb lever opens the snuffer cap and simultaneously rotates the flint wheel to ignite the wick. Releasing the lever extinguishes the flame. The lighter has a chrome-plated body with a distinct, etched or engraved geometric pattern on both sides. These are considered collectible items due to their vintage charm and satisfying, reliable mechanism. This is a vintage item and does have some wear on the finish.
