Jean Reverzy's Prix Renaudot-winning novel ("Le Passage" in French) is translated here by Edward Hyams. Reverzy's debut novel, grounded in his own work as a physician, traces the end of the life of one man, Palabaud, who has returned to France "to croak" after living many years, and taking a wife, in Tahiti. The London Times caled Reverzy's Palabaud "a remarkable achievement, the subtly articulated presentation of a supremely inarticulate man." This edition is in very good condition with owner's name and light wear. Jacket is in good condition with edgewear, some foxing, wear and soil. Scarce title. 256 pages; approx. 6"x8".
