This jumper carries its history right on the sleeve. The red and gold shoulder patch is the World War II era U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces insignia, worn by sailors who completed specialized training or served on landing craft and related vessels. Below it is a Petty Officer First Class rating badge for a Hospital Corpsman: three red chevrons topped by a red cross beneath the spread eagle. Above the chevrons is the small gold ‘ruptured duck’ honorable service insignia, indicating the sailor had been honorably discharged. Together, these patches tell a very specific story and make this a desirable piece for naval and medical corps collectors.
