Description:
Original Civil War era carte de visite photograph dating to approximately 1864–1866. This CDV features a seated gentleman posed in a period studio setting with curtain and tassel prop, consistent with mid-19th century portrait photography.
The reverse displays an authentic 2¢ U.S. Internal Revenue stamp, hand-canceled in ink, which was federally required on photographs during the Civil War. The presence of this stamp firmly dates the image to the wartime revenue tax period and adds historical significance.
