Vintage Japanese indigo cotton maekake apron featuring advertising for Sakuradafu Sakura Shrimp, produced by Ogura Seisaku Store in Yui Town, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Maekake aprons have been used in Japan since the Edo period as traditional workwear for shopkeepers, brewers, and craftsmen. Made from thick woven cotton canvas, they are known for durability and strong waist ties, historically believed to support the lower back during labor.

This example features one-sided printed text and two front pockets, indicating practical daily use. Indigo dye shows natural depth and character consistent with age.

Material: Indigo-dyed cotton
Origin: Japan
Estimated Era: 1950s–1970s

Size: Approx. 18" x 20"

Condition:
Good vintage condition.
No major holes or structural damage noted.
Light wear consistent with age.
Print remains clear and legible.

A great piece for collectors of Japanese folk textiles, indigo dye, or traditional food and trade advertising.
