This is a pre-owned, unsigned, vintage (c. 1940’s) brooch marked sterling & acid tested as such. It is approximately 2.75 inches long and ~2 inches wide. The brooch is in good vintage condition with age appropriate wear to the back and the silver has a rich patina—not unexpected with a piece of this age.
It is an unusual piece, designed to resemble a partially opened flower. It features a large
dark red faceted glass center that is “caged” by sterling sepals. The “leaves” are prong set, faceted rich blue colored glass w/ clear rhinestones as accents.
There ARE several issues to be aware of
It is missing several (clear) rhinestones (SEE PHOTOS).
The small rhinestones at the top of the sepals have yellowed over the years. (SEE PHOTOS).
It appears that at some point, the pin mechanism was replaced (SEE PHOTOS), and has a slight stiffness of the hinge, but it opens/closes as it should, though the pin stem has a slight bend.
