Fabulous Mother of Pearl Cameo Sterling Silver Brooch Pin - Antique Victorian Era
An incredibly iridescent piece of mother of pearl has been hand carved to depict the profile of a woman with classic Greco-Roman features and flowing hair.
The lovely cameo is bezel set in a sterling silver mount. It is marked "Sterling" on the reverse. there isn't a maker's mark.
The pin clasp features a simple C clasp without safety, characteristic of the time.
The brooch measures 1 5/16 inch (33mm) by 1 inch (25mm), and is 6mm at the deepest point.
There is a bit of patina on the back of the setting and no damage. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. The condition is excellent, this brooch is over 130 years old.
This beautiful piece should not be dipped in silver cleaner as it will damage the mother of pearl.
