1950s HERMES Paris USA Made WEAR-RIGHT Cotton Red/White Stripe 6 1/2 Size Gloves

Do a double take on this rare treasure. Hermes of France, yes HERMES, bought these elegant USA Made “Wear Right Foremost in Gloves Woplex Suede Made in USA 6 1/2 (size)” — says this on the inside (embossed) in the left hand glove — and then sold in a Paris Department Store (Galeries Lafayette) in the 1950’s.

These petite obviously hand sewn gloves are a piece of fashion history.

The right hand glove has a tag from Wear-Right saying, “Wear-Right NUPLEX SUEDE MADE IN U.S.A. COTTON.”

So is it “Woplex or Nuplex Suede?”
But it seems to be all sturdy cotton construction? Is “SUEDE” just a look? There’s no leather here!

Guess they mean Suede look cotton, which it resembles.

Dimensions: 8” long, 3 1/8” wide at wrist. This was designed for small skinny hands. Also says size 6 1/2 on both gloves.

Condition is hardly used, but there is fade of white color and a few rust marks from too much moisture over summers while stored in a drawer in a room without air-con.
