Highly collectible vintage serigraphy brooch attributed to Léa Stein, featuring a stylized portrait of a woman. These figural portrait pins are known among collectors under names such as “Corolle” or “Pierrette” & are considered among the earliest and most desirable of Stein’s designs.
Crafted from laminated sheets of cellulose acetate, also known as rhodoid or plastic, it showcases the distinctive layering & texturing technique developed by Léa Stein & her husband. The portrait style reflects Art Deco inspired illustration, a hallmark of Stein’s serigraphy work. Serigraphy portrait brooches were produced in limited numbers during the 1960s to 1970s and are highly sought after by collectors. The reverse features a V shaped metal clasp, a construction detail typical of Léa Stein brooches.
