Antique Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Dress Buckle
This beautiful antique buckle is an elegant example of the Art Nouveau aesthetic, characterized by its flowing, organic lines and stylized natural forms, dating from the period of approximately 1890 to 1910. These highly decorative pieces were typically worn by fashionable ladies as a functional accent: either as a belt slide for securing narrow leather or fabric belts worn high on the waist, or as an ornate sash or cloak fastener on a silk ribbon or velvet band, particularly for evening wear.
