The A-line shift silhouette, the simple, boxy cut, and the graphic, bold print are all signature elements of the 1960s Mod fashion movement, for which Marimekko is an icon. The pattern is a swirling, floral motif in contrasting shades gray and black. The boldness of the graphic print, which is a signature Marimekko characteristic, suggests an original textile design from that era. Design Research D/R was a revolutionary lifestyle store in the US (founded in Cambridge, MA) and was the exclusive US retailer for Marimekko clothing and textiles from 1959 to around 1976. Classic Mod A-line shift dress with a high Mandarin/Band Collar and short sleeves. 100% Cotton, button-up front, size vintage 6. Measures approximately 17" chest measuring from underarm to underarm, 11" sleeve outseam and 36" long measuring from back collar to hem. Flaws: as shown at the button of the button seam, slight fading especially around collar, small discoloration on right sleeve near armpit area as shown, hemmed.
