American Legion Post 17 Commander cap worn by John R. Rowe during World War II in Hawaii, dated 1944.
The name "John R. Rowe" is stitched in colored thread on the right side of the cap, while the US American Legion Round Crest is stitched above "HAWAII" on the left side.
The cap features a beautifully rendered medallion with deep blue enamel set against a sterling silver background. At the top, the words "PAST COMMANDER" are displayed in capital letters, with a military ribbon attached to the first bar. Stitched onto the ribbon is a cartouche indicating the year "1944." Suspended from the ribbon is a round star medallion that reads "AMERICAN LEGION," with "US" featured in the center of the star.
This cap is in excellent vintage condition.
