[Event Overview]
This is a retrospective exhibition that explores the creative activities of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the character designer and animation director of "Mobile Suit Gundam," who is also active as a manga artist. It looks back on his turbulent life, from being born as a third-generation pioneer in Engaru, Hokkaido, participating in the student movement in college, moving to Tokyo to join animation production, and then becoming a manga artist. Many materials will be displayed for the first time in the world.
The exhibition showcases over 800 materials that trace Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's creative activities from his childhood to the present day, including many items that are being exhibited for the first time, such as rough drafts of posters for "Mobile Suit Gundam" (theatrical version).
In addition to animation-related materials, the exhibition also features manga manuscripts based on Japanese ancient and modern history, which can be considered Yasuhiko's life work, offering a comprehensive look at Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's creative activities.
The original drawings and manuscripts, born from his high artistic skill, are truly works of art. Newly drawn illustrations will also be on display at the venue.
