Sebastian Miniature - The Pilgrims - sculpted in 1947 by Prescott Baston. Perfect condition. Base is 1 3/4" wide. 3/ 1/4" tall.
Originally designed on speculation for the Toll House restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts, the Pilgrims were sold at retail through Schmid Bros from the beginnig. The base was changed to a more ornate base in 1958, and the name was changed to "Thanksgiving Couple". This piece is the original design of 1947 before the changes. Original Marblehead label still on the bottom. 41 years ago, this piece was valued at $50.
Sebastian Miniatures are a series of small castable ceramic (chalkware) sculptures or figurines first produced by Prescott W Baston Sr. in 1938 until his death in 1984. Each miniature produced is hand painted with meticulous detail. No two look exactly alike.
Does not have original box. Will come in a gift box.
