U.S. Military Surplus
From the 1940s, during World War II. Before the Air Force became independent in 1947, it was called the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF).
These are overpants from the heavy zone range, issued as cold weather gear for pilots.
They were deployed as a set with the B-11 flight jacket.
Both side pockets are double-layered, with a pocket and a pass-through.
From the waist to around the knees, they are lined with alpaca.
Below the knees, they are lined with wool.
The "ARMY AIR FORCE" stamp is also clear.
Belt loops allow for wearing without suspenders.
A sewing tag remains inside the right rear pocket.
An order tag remains, indicating delivery to the 329th Bombardment Squadron in 1951.
The order number suggests a 1944 contract.
Deadstock, new and unused.
Made by H. BERNSTEIN.
Marked size: 38
This is not the pants size 38, but rather the jacket size for the set.
Please refer to the actual measurements.
Flat measurements: Total length 110cm, waist 45cm, rise 38cm, inseam 72cm, thigh width 36cm, hem width 24cm (approx.)
Apart from age-related deterioration, there are no noticeable damages.
Major shops sell similar items in good condition with an oversized feel for around 43,000 yen (excluding shipping).
Deadstock items like these are unlikely to appear in the future.
Also available are a real B-11 jacket (if the size matches, how about a set?), A-9 flight pants, and a civilian B-9 jacket (deadstock)!
