Large Framed Woodblock-Style Print Avatamsaka (Huayan) Sutra Vol. 8

This large framed print depicts a Transformation Tableau (變相, Biànxiàng) from Volume 8 of the Avatamsaka (Huayan / Flower Adornment) Sutra, an important text in East Asian Buddhism.


Rendered in a traditional Chinese woodblock-style monochrome ink illustration, the scene shows a central preaching Buddha surrounded by bodhisattvas, celestial beings, and disciples, symbolizing the Huayan Buddhist concept of the interconnectedness of all phenomena.


The vertical inscription reads:

大方廣佛華嚴經 第八卷 變相

A square red seal marked 周 (Zhou) appears at the lower right, indicating a publisher, workshop, or atelier mark.


Professionally framed under glass with a black frame and red inner accent. The backing is hand-dated February 2, 1985 by Gallery at Land’s End (San Diego), indicating the print is vintage, pre-1985.
