The following is the official description:
Made in Japan using the "Big Waffle" cotton fabric that represents 《 Jackman 》. The shoulder and sleeve parts of the base "Waffle Mid Neck" are combined with 《 Lavenham 》's 2-inch diamond quilted "Lavenster" fabric.
This "Big Waffle" is made using extra-thick cotton yarn and a dedicated vintage machine that knits at a low speed. The resulting fabric is soft, voluminous, and boasts natural elasticity.

In March 1949, Mitsugu Tanabe established "Tanabe Meriyasu" in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, starting with three sewing machines in a small room.
