Serviced item: SONY WM-EX1 Sony Cassette Walkman, with charger and gum battery

Released in 1994 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Sony's stereo cassette Walkman, this model prioritizes sound quality, featuring a DOLBY NR switch and a brass flywheel.

[Condition]
・The exterior is generally in good condition.

[Operational Status]
・The unit powers on and plays tapes without issue using a new gum-type battery charged with the included charger.
・The unit powers on and plays tapes without issue using AA batteries inserted into a test AA battery adapter (not included).
・In several hours of testing, playback, fast forward, rewind, auto-reverse, volume control (no static), DOLBY NR, BL SKIP, HOLD, and sound output from the earphones all function correctly.

[Maintenance]
・The tape drive rubber belt has been replaced with a new, ultra-thin, square-type belt made in Japan specifically for Walkmans.
・The main gear was damaged and has been replaced with a good one.
・The head, pinch roller, and capstan have been cleaned with anhydrous ethanol.
・Electrical contacts have been improved with contact cleaner.
・Gears, internal circuit boards, and the unit's volume control have been lubricated and cleaned with parts cleaner and oil.
・The exterior has been cleaned with AV panel cleaner and disinfected with alcohol.
・The head has been demagnetized using a TDK head eraser AH-201.
・Cassette speed adjustment was performed by playing a digital audio source in the left ear and a commercially available cassette tape source in the right ear simultaneously, and adjusting until the speeds matched as closely as possible.

●Important Notes
・While the sound quality and condition are good, please understand that this is a 30-year-old product, and performance cannot be expected to be equivalent to a new product. No returns accepted.
・It is recommended to avoid using tapes longer than 90 minutes or low-quality cassette tapes. Reverse playback may not function, or there may be significant sound fluctuations. (I tested 25 of my own 90-minute cassette tapes, and they all played without issue on this unit.)
