The sleeves are sewn by hand, shifting the seams to create a twist in the sleeve, making it easier to move. This part is the most important part of a high-quality shirt.
Gathering at the shoulders, more fabric is taken from the armhole and the excess is gathered at the top of the shoulder. This is a time-consuming technique that Barba has been using since the beginning. This increases the range of motion in the shoulders and also enhances the handmade look.
All buttonholes are handmade, which makes the buttonholes soft. And the buttons are attached in a way that is rarely seen in Italy anymore. If you look closely, they are sewn in three directions. This is called a crow's foot.
The crow's foot can now be done by machine, but Barba does it all by hand. And the balance between the buttons and the holes makes them easy to fasten and unfasten.
The gusset part, the front and back panels are sewn with a three-fold seam, but most in the market are finished quickly with a two-needle stitch, but Barba uses a traditional single-needle three-fold seam. In the industry, it is called a three-fold seam. The triangular gusset is reinforced by hand.
Also, the kenboro part is reinforced with a bar tack. Of course, this is a part that can only be done by hand.
