PAIR OF JAPANESE WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS BY KŌNAN (幸南), EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Offered is a matched pair of early 20th-century Japanese paintings depicting birds among flowering branches, hand-painted in ink and watercolor on traditional washi paper. Both works are signed and sealed by the artist Kōnan (幸南), a Japanese painter working in the nihonga / kachō-ga (bird-and-flower) tradition.

The paintings feature expressive brushwork, soft ink washes, and subtle mineral pigments absorbed into the paper, confirming they are original works and not prints. Subject matter includes birds and seasonal blossoms, traditional Japanese symbols of harmony, renewal, and longevity.

These works were later framed for Western display and are offered together as a matching pair.
