【70's vintage / made in Canada】wool cowichan zip cardigan -S / beige- (jt-2512-1-3)

Likely a rare vintage item from the 60s-70s♪

A traditional "Cowichan cardigan" originating from the Salish Native Indians, also known as the Cowichan people, who live on Vancouver Island in Canada.
Its characteristics include patterns related to nature, reflecting the hunting culture, especially those combining animals and geometric designs, knitted with thick yarn based on white or gray tones.

The yarn uses thick wool, and of course, it is hand-knitted.

Because it was used as workwear during hunting, the wool used is usually thick and durable, with high cold protection and a sense of weight.

Currently, it is widely known as a traditional craft of the Cowichan people, but originally, knitting techniques were passed down to the Cowichan people from the Scots in the early 19th century, and the fusion of those techniques and long-standing artistic elements resulted in the Cowichan sweater with its unique design.

This color is a classic Cowichan color scheme, with geometric patterns in brown and natural colors knitted on a beige base.
It's an earth-toned, gentle color scheme.
Because it's a basic color scheme, you can wear it for a long time without being influenced by trends.

The neckline is a shawl collar (shawl collar).
It protects your neck well even when it's cold.

The front has a zipper.
A "C&C" brand zipper is used.
This brand is related to the zipper division of Coats & Clarks, the parent company of Crown Fastener, and is known as "C&C ZIP" in the vintage market.
It's a type often seen on Cowichan sweaters and military items.

Pockets on both sides.

Although there is no size indication, it has a size equivalent to men's S size.
By the way, it's a size that a woman with a height of 156cm can wear comfortably.
I've uploaded wearing images, so please refer to them for the size feeling.
Recommended size for small men.
Please check the actual size below for details.

Made in Canada, handmade.
After all, those who are particular about authenticity can't resist the texture of Canadian handmade♪
