Antique Photo Lot, Including a WW1 Soldier

Original early 20th-century photographic lot consisting of two period portraits. First is a striking studio photograph of a U.S. Army enlisted soldier seated in uniform with his partner standing beside him, dating to the World War I era based on uniform style and puttees. Strong clarity, rich tonal range, and excellent studio composition. The reverse is hand-annotated in period ink identifying the subjects as “John & Cleo Murray,” adding direct personal provenance and genealogical appeal. Second photograph is a cabinet card studio portrait of four women, credited to Givens of Seward, Nebraska, a known regional photographer. Classic late-19th-century attire, jewelry, and posed studio backdrop typical of the era. The Seward, Nebraska imprint is clearly visible, anchoring the piece geographically and historically. Both photographs show honest age wear consistent with originals—light surface marks and toning only, no modern reproduction indicators.
