This rare Antique Chinese Alabastrine Figurine of a Scholar is a unique collectible piece that showcases traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Standing at 7 1/4" tall, this handmade figurine embodies the rich cultural heritage of China and is a prized possession that I have owned since 1978.
The sculpture is believed to be that of Lu Hsing, Chinese deity of prosperity, fortune, and career success. It is likely a 19th or early 20th Century sculpture. The figure has a long beard and wears the traditional hat and robes of a scholar.
It is in excellent condition, with but small nicks on the front of the wooden stand and remains of a label underneath the bottom of the stand. Those defects were present when I purchased it in 1978. It has been in a display case since purchase. There are no other nicks, no scratches, and no repairs. Please see the photos for a review of the overall condition.
