First edition, first printing hardcover copy of The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley (Alfred A. Knopf, 1983). Very rare early printing of the first edition of this classic fantasy novel based on the Arthurian legend and folklore. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with mild rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges. Mild soiling to boards with corners bumped and small tear to top edge of spine. Faint discoloration to outer edges of text block and small stained area to rear endpaper. A few other instances of mild discoloration towards outer edges of pages. Previous owner’s name on front endpaper. Binding is loosening with a few instances of split binding and slanted spine.
