This is the Stranglers' third album, released in '78. They were very active, releasing three studio albums in about a year since their debut in '77. Both their debut and second albums were hits, and this album also reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart, with the single A2 hitting number 18 on the UK Singles Chart, marking the peak of their popularity and momentum (the first time around). They weren't originally a band that played straight punk rock, and that single A2 is reggae. None of the songs are straightforward 8-beat, and the addition of Dave Greenfield's quirky-sounding synth creates the unique Stranglers sound of this period. Laura Logic participates on saxophone on A5. True to their connection with Japan, A3 is a song themed around Tokyo, and B3 is a song by JJ Burnel about Yukio Mishima, whom he admired.

A1 Tank
A2 Nice 'N' Sleazy
A3 Outside Tokyo
A4 Sweden (All Quiet On The Eastern Front)
A5 Hey! (Rise Of The Robots)
A6 Toiler On The Sea
Black Side
B1 Curfew

B3 Do You Wanna / Death And Night And Blood (Yukio)
