Vintage Japanese Mingei Kokeshi Koma Dog Pull Toy Kijigangu

Vintage Japanese wooden toy in the shape of a dog, incorporating a removable koma, or spinning top for extra play. Articulated at head and ears. Rolls on wheels with a pull string ending in wooden pull. Tail has pointed end for hollow top spinning. Dichromatic painting in red and black with rokuro moyo stripe designs. Handmade and painted by a kokeshi artist, unsigned. A fun example of traditional Japanese mingei folk art. Approx. 5” L, 5” H, 2.5” W. Early mid century/ Shōwa period. Light wear and soiling commensurate with play and age. From smoke free storage.
