Battle of Brandywine, 1777

The Marquis de Lafayette shows his courage his baptism of fire during the defense of Philadelphia at the Battle of Brandywine Creek, September 11, 1777. Despite a musket ball wound to the leg from which blood trickled down to his boot, the young major general rallied his American comrades and commanded a counteroffensive against the advance of the superior British forces.
