To commemorate the 10th anniversary of "Carrie & Lowell," a deluxe expanded double LP album will be released, featuring 7 unreleased bonus tracks, a 40-page art book, and a new essay by Sufjan Stevens.
The deluxe edition also features an alternative cover. This is a wider view of the original Polaroid photo, with the caption "Carrie & Lowell" written in a child's handwriting at the bottom of the photo, revealing the origin of the title of this work.
The design of this new edition was created by Sufjan himself, and the 40-page booklet includes a collage of old family photos spanning four generations, along with artwork, drawings, and landscape photographs taken by Sufjan while traveling through the American West over 10 years ago.
The original album is included on the first disc, and the second disc contains approximately 40 minutes of additional audio. In addition to demo versions of "Death With Dignity," "Should Have Known Better," "The Only Thing," and "Eugene," there are also grand outtakes of "Fourth of July" and "Wallowa Lake Monster," which have a more cinematic feel.
The final gem is the original demo of "Mystery of Love." This song was originally born during the "Carrie & Lowell" sessions, but was later reconfigured and re-recorded and provided for Luca Guadagnino's film "Call Me by Your Name." The demo version included this time consists of only guitar and vocals, with slightly different lyrics.
This edition will be sold exclusively through the official shop and will be released on special blue and white vinyl. Each record has a unique color variation.
