Vintage Asian Art Mother Of Pearl Metal Compact Powder And Mirror Rare Piece

This item is a vintage Asian mother of pearl powder compact with mirror, a powder puff and powder on the other side. It is featuring a detailed inlay design of a traditional horse-drawn carriage, sometimes referred to as a rickshaw or Goshoguruma carriage. These types of lavishly decorated carriages were used by the imperial family and nobility in ancient Kyoto and are a popular motif in Asian art, often alluding to classic literary scenes or elegant daily life.
The compact has a gold-tone metal casing and is intricately inlaid with shimmering pieces of mother of pearl, creating a mosaic effect on the lid.
The pieces are cut into small, geometric and figural shapes to form the pattern. It measures 3 1/2 inches arcoss with wear here and there due to its age and use. Please see pics as they are part of the description.
