Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide Rock Mineral Specimen full of massive pyrite crystals and black argillic clasts measuring approximately 4.5 inches width and weighing 772.4 grams. This chunky specimen was collected along Highway #1 located near Cache Creek, British Columbia Canada in 1996 where the outcrop was sweating yellow native sulfur. It is angular blocky and raw with classic micro to medium crystalline textures and various levels of patinated oxidation. This rock specimen is perfect for geologists, collectors, and rock hounds interested in similar black smoker deposits located in the Juan de Fuca straight between BC mainland and Vancouver Island which are notable as hydrothermal vents located on sea floors with interesting bacteria and micro-organisms living in the hot acidic plumes. This rock mineral specimen is in as found condition where I broke it off the outcrop using an Estwing hammer and have taken good care of it since.
