1951 Palekh Sadko Fairy Tale Russian Lacquer Box, M. Parilov

This is an authentic mid-century Palekh lacquer box, hand-painted and signed by the artist M. Parilov (М. Парилов). The inscription reads “М. Парилов, Палех, 1951 г.”, confirming both the artist and the early date. The artwork depicts a detailed scene from the Russian folk epic Sadko - the Novgorod musician-adventurer, is shown traveling across stylized magical waves in a brilliantly painted red boat, accompanied by his companions. The imagery, gold ornamentation, fine line work, and dramatic color palette reflect the classic, high-level Palekh style of the 1940s–1950s.
