Vintage Early 20th Century Antique Blue Velvet Lined Hand Carved Wooden Indian Folk Art Kashmiri Walnut Slide Locking Mechanism Jewelry Box

Measures roughly 8.5” long x 5.5” wide x 2.75” tall, and in excellent functional, structural, and aesthetic condition. Some minor superficial wear to surface of bottom wood finish, and some mechanical wear to the wooden grooves/slats which make up the basic mechanism that serves as the “lock” for the box. In order to open and close (“lock”) the box, the bottom front wooden slat slides about 1/2” to the right…that way, the box remains tightly closed without the need for a conspicuous auxiliary lock on the outside…it also makes this box more of a “secret hiding place.”Sold as pictured.
