U.S. Military Surplus
Coffee cup used in U.S. military hospitals and other medical facilities.
The Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company (TEPCO) was founded in 1918 and manufactured and sold tableware for hotels, restaurants, diners, and other general use, but was also known as a supplier of military tableware.
The company was at its peak from World War II to the Korean War, but closed in 1968 due to the mass entry of other manufacturers during the Vietnam War.
The handle attachment and finish appear to have been handmade.
The wine-red line appears to be hand-painted.
The caduceus, the mark of the medics, is also an old-style stamp.
Based on these conditions, it is probably from the 1940s to 1950s.
There are small stones mixed in during molding and unevenness in the width of the lines, but this is not damage, but rather the valuable traces of manual work before full automation.
Height 9cm, diameter 8.5cm
The bottom is also clean, and there are no stains, scratches, or chips from use, so it appears to be unused, but aging cannot be avoided.
Please understand that this is a vintage item.
Medic plates and other types of cups are also on sale.
