This is a mid-century, Mexican Modernist, sterling silver brooch, handcrafted in Mexico Cityperfect to wear on a lapel, scarf, or hat. The brooch features a striking cutout silhouette (openwork) of an Aztec or Mayan warrior in profile, wearing an elaborate ceremonial headdress. The brooch is in excellent vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina. There are no bends, breaks, deep scratches, or repairs to the broochs intricate silver openwork. The C-clasp works well. It opens and closes smoothly. The pin back has a slight bend. This brooch would make a wonderful addition to a Mexican silver or ethnic figurative jewelry collection.
