U.S. Military Surplus
Coffee cup used in U.S. military hospitals and other medical facilities.
The company was renamed Walker China in 1942 from its predecessor.
They manufactured and sold tableware for hotels, restaurants, diners, etc., but were also known as a supplier of military tableware.
Although the company was acquired several times, the factory closed in the early 1980s.
This appears to be a rare, matched mold for this era.
The wine-red line appears to be hand-painted.
The Caduceus, the medical symbol, is an old-style stamp.
Other mugs on sale have almost straight sides as the years go by, but this one has a flared bottom, a shape called a "flare bottom," with a curve in the center of the cup.
It seems that the machine-formed items were shaped by hand, which was time-consuming, so it was only supplied by some manufacturers for a short period of time.
The date code indicates that this product is from 1951.
Height: 9cm, Diameter: 8.5cm
There are no stains, scratches, or chips from use, and it appears to be unused, but aging cannot be avoided.
Please understand that this is a vintage item.
Medic plates and other types of cups are also on sale.
