Nick Waplington, a photographer born in Yemen and currently active in the UK and the US, presents his collection "Living Room." Waplington has released works from a wide range of perspectives, including social documentaries, collaborations with fashion designers and artists, self-published ZINEs, and on-demand services. Since 2010, he has also focused on his activities as a painter, exploring new artistic expressions with unconventional ideas. This book is Waplington's representative work, his first book. It captures the daily lives of "families" depicting the reality of the late 1980s, including the collapse of industry, the increase in unemployment, and the decline of local economies, influenced by the Thatcher government. It is a masterpiece of social documentary, portraying the ordinary happiness and richness of everyday life, the despair of a future without prospects, and the economic hardship lurking behind the happiness of the heart, encompassing various meanings while appealing to the daily lives of the working class facing harsh realities.
